Shakespeare Web sites
The Collected Works of Shakespeare Matty Farrow
runs a server that is very similar to this one in Australia. Of course it
should look familiar, since the basic text layout for our site was purloined
from his. It's got a great search interface.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare
A web project from The Tech
is very complete. The site was created and is maintained by
Jeremy Hylton.
Part of our server was inspired by this web site.
International

Theatre and the Shakespeare in performance database that is being
created by Chantal Miller-Schütz and Pauline Kiernan.

Stratford and the heart of England.

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust
All about historic Stratford-on-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace and the
Shakespeare Centre which houses the Trust's library (including the archives
of the Royal Shakespeare Company). This is the official site, and it now
includes valuable information on Shakespeare's life.
The
Folger Shakespeare Library
A landmark site from this famous Shakespearean library (the world's largest
collection of Shakespeare's printed works, in addition to a magnificent
collection of other rare Renaissance books and manuscripts on all disciplines),
including the journal Shakespeare Quarterly . They have a very nice
Mail Order Shop.
Shakespeare Web,
presented by Dr. Dana Lloyd Spradley, includes questions and answers
and some defunct discussion groups. Only one play so far. This site
doesn't seem to be actively maintained.
Other texts
A Midsummer Night's
Dream (by a student in the UNBC interdisciplinary MA program).
Shakespeare courses
English 305
at Washington State University. Prof. J.M. Massi has prepared this
page for her Shakespeare class, but it should be of interest to a
wider audience than just her students. It includes study questions and
some answers to students' questions.
Materials for
Michael Best's courses at the University of Victoria are available
on the Web. The Web pages included a
comprehensive
list of related material and hypertext versions of several plays
(with line numbers).
Secondary materials
Shakespeare Illustrated. A collection of paintings inspired by
Shakespeare's work, collected and described by Harry Rusche of Emory
University.
The Encyclopedia Brittanica has a Web server, but it is not
public. Some colleges and universities have licensed access to the
server. If you do have access, you can read encyclopedia
articles on Shakespeare.
A search turned up this brief
comment on Hamlet written by Samuel Johnson.
Shakespeare on film
If you're interested in interpretations of Shakespeare's work on
film, you might try the Internet Move Database. I've included pointers
to both the original UK site and a US mirror.
